The Ministry of Ecology and Environment studies and judges the water environment situation in the first half of the year
2021-09-02
In the first half of 2021, among the 3641 national surface water evaluation sections, the proportion of Grade I-III sections was 81.7%, an increase of 1.1 percentage points year-on-year; the proportion of sections inferior to Grade V was 1.9%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points year-on-year. The overall water environment quality continued to improve. But at the same time, the problem of unbalanced and uncoordinated water ecology and environmental protection is still prominent, and problems such as the deterioration of water quality in some areas cannot be ignored.
Nationally controlled sections (excluding sections affected by natural factors) whose water quality is inferior to Grade V are distributed in 16 provinces. Among them, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Yunnan, and Shanxi 4 provinces (regions) have a large number, accounting for 62% of the country's total. The section of Gongzhuling City of Xinkai River in Jilin has been inferior to Grade V for six consecutive months this year. (See attachment 1)
The water quality of 25 state-controlled sections across the country deteriorated significantly year-on-year, distributed in 12 provinces. Among them, 7 in Shanxi, 4 in Henan, and 3 in Shaanxi. The total number of sections with markedly deteriorating water quality in the three provinces accounted for 56% of the country's total. (See attachment 2)
In response to the above-mentioned outstanding problems, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has issued warning letters to relevant provincial-level ecological and environmental departments, and organized the basin bureau to conduct independent investigations on the three or more early warning problems, supervised and guided local investigations on the reasons behind the problems, and steadily promoted solutions . For outstanding issues that have been delayed for a long time, relevant clues will be handed over to the central ecological and environmental protection inspector in a timely manner.
