Water is the source of life
Cherish water resources and protect the water environment
It is the responsibility and obligation of each of us
The so-called knowing oneself and the enemy will never end in battle
Protect water resources
Start by understanding these water pollution prevention and control tips
01 What is water pollution?

The chemical, physical, biological, or radiological characteristics of the water body are changed due to the intervention of a certain substance, which affects the effective use of water, endangers human health or destroys the ecological environment, and causes deterioration of water quality.
02 What are the main pollutants that cause water pollution?

(1) Industrial wastewater discharged without treatment;
(2) Domestic sewage discharged without treatment;
(3) Farmland sewage caused by extensive use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides;
(4) Industrial waste and domestic garbage piled up by the river;
(5) Deforestation, soil erosion;
(6) Mine sewage is generated due to excessive mining
03What are the hazards of water pollution?

The increasing water pollution has posed a major threat to human survival and safety, and has become a major obstacle to the sustainable development of human health, economy and society. Water pollution also affects people's lives, destroys the ecology, directly endangers people's health, and causes great damage.
04 Explanation of terms related to water pollution
Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)——This indicator is one of the comprehensive indicators of organic pollution. It is commonly used internationally to measure the environmental quality of a region's water body as the main pollution control item, referred to as COD. It refers to the content of oxygen required by organisms in a certain volume of water. Generally, the lower the chemical oxygen demand, the better, because the oxygen in water is certain, and the low chemical oxygen demand means that the oxygen dissolved in the water can maintain the needs of aquatic organisms; If the chemical oxygen demand is too large, the dissolved oxygen in the water will decrease, leading to the death of organisms (usually fish and shrimp) that need more oxygen in the water, which will cause the growth of anaerobic bacteria, and "living water" will become "dead water". Generally, the larger the COD value, the more serious the organic pollution of the water body.
Ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N)——refers to the nitrogen in the form of free ammonia (NH3) and ammonium ions (NH4) in water. Ammonia nitrogen mainly comes from the excrement of humans and animals. At the same time, rainwater runoff and the loss of agricultural fertilizers are also important sources of nitrogen. Ammonia nitrogen also comes from industrial wastewater such as chemical industry, metallurgy, petrochemical industry, paint and pigment, gas, coking, tanning, and fertilizer. in. Ammonia nitrogen is a nutrient in water bodies, which can lead to water eutrophication. It is the main oxygen-consuming pollutant in water bodies and is toxic to fish and certain aquatic organisms.
